just let me be. |
I did attend an all women's college, but most of the times I felt as though many didn't appreciate their own given sex because of feminism. They didn't really embrace "girl" qualities. I knew a couple of people who would try to be more masculine and forbid tenderness in this act of feminism. But isn't that siding with the idea of being a man? By trying to look and be like the male stereotype, it just "agrees" with the ancient doctrine of men being more superior. What is so wrong about being girly and what you are born with? Why fear being feminine? It's not like each "girly" girl needs to be taken care of 24-7 and doesn't have her own schedule. Each person has a strength and I don't think sex would make anyone more or less of who they are. If a woman feels uncomfortable wearing frills and such, that's perfectly fine. But don't throw away the dresses, long locks, and one's own feminine mannerisms in fear of judged as weak and inadequate. I know it's a bit different in many places such as the business world (you don't want to go to an important finance meeting decked out in lace and ribbons). I'm just trying to get my view across the general public.
I do want to be taken care of, I do want to look pretty, I do want to get married, I do want to cook and clean (uhh sort of not really looking forward to that, actually) for my kids, and I do want to rest in my husband's arms. But does that make me a weak woman? No, that makes me human and someone who knows what she wants.
Just be yourself and embrace your qualities.

i totally agree.
ReplyDeleteand your pics are super cute
I really like what you wrote, and I hope I can say that as a guy! I feel like because of all the damage that chauvanism causes, people want to completely neuter gender of any differences.. but i feel that what you described is a more balanced and whole view of sexuality.
